One Way In, One Way Out: How the Cle Elum Valley Is Building Its Way to Resilience
With the Kittitas Fire Adapted Communities Coalition (KFACC)
Wednesday, November 11
1:00–4:00 PM
Gather in Owens A
Pre-registered participants only
Join leaders from Kittitas Fire Adapted Communities Coalition (KFACC) for a unique opportunity to view home hardening, strategic fuels work, broadcast prescribed fire units, electric grid enhancements, a live demo of a flame cap kiln, and an active prescribed fire pile unit if conditions allow.
Our conference location, Suncadia Resort, sits at the southern end of the Cle Elum Valley – one of Washington’s highest priority landscapes for fire work, and one way in one way out residential and recreation corridor. Since the 2017 Jolly Mountain Fire threatened communities in the valley multiple partners including the WA Department of Natural Resources, Suncadia Resort, Puget Sound Energy, Upper Kittitas County Fuels, The Nature Conservancy, USDA Forest Service, and multiple local fire departments have worked cooperatively on a host of mitigation projects covering thousands of acres and hundreds of homes.
Departure after the briefing
It can’t wait for late arrivals. Please be in Owens A by 1:00 PM for the briefing.
What to bring
Warm layers, closed-toe shoes for uneven ground, and water. November in the valley can be cold and wet.
